About the design
The Crux is one of the cabins in the Bratt boliger project by the Oslo-based architect Reiulf Ramstad, completed in 2024 on the hillside above Åndalsnes, the mountaineering capital of Norway.
Inspired by local building traditions, the cabins stand on stilts so they rest lightly on the steep terrain and leave the ground beneath them untouched. The idea: minimal impact on the landscape, maximum connection to it. Large windows frame the peaks of Romsdalen, and the main bedroom is oriented to face them.
Inside, everything is about quality and simplicity. The house is built entirely in pine, with natural, low-carbon materials throughout and a compact yet generous 80 m² layout. The details are local too: the sofa and entrance curtain are handmade from local wool, and the bathrooms were custom-built in the region.
